How’s your November going? I hope it’s not too stressful for you and you’re enjoying the season! Today I’m sharing some thoughts on something you’ve heard me say quite a few times before. And that is understanding our divine responsibility to stand up, speak out, and serve. And I’ve divided this topic into 5 things you need to know as a business woman. If you’re ready for a pep talk, this post is for you! 

 

 

To set up the 5 things, I need to touch on how amazing my two sisters are. One sister just won mayor for her city! She and her team have been working so hard the past 6 months, so it’s really exciting to see her win–and she’s the first woman mayor in her city, so this is a big deal!

My other sister is getting her Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, which includes Communication, Arts, and Education (and probably a few more things). She also serves as the director for a children’s theater. 

Aren’t both of my sisters so impressive? The point of sharing their successes with you is to show you that although my sisters and I grew up in the same household together, we’ve all gone on to accomplish very different things and all developed different talents that we’re using to serve those within our sphere of influence. 

But this isn’t a story about my sisters and I, this is a story about you. 

 

5 Things You Need to Know as a Business Woman 

I know you have a lot of dreams. You have lots of ideas on how you can serve. I also know you feel a little bit sheepish about saying how awesome you are. So, I’ll say it for you. You are amazing! There is so much good inside of you and you are spreading it to the world. I love that. 

That being said, here are the 5 things you need to know as a business woman. These 5 things are not technical aspects of running a business. Instead, they are 5 truths about who you are and why believing in yourself will help you share your gifts and serve just as it was planned for you to do so. 

 

Truth #1: Your gifts and talents are intentional and inherent.

There is one thing to remember that will help you in your business and every aspect of your life. That is, you are a divine being who brought with you divine traits.

To help you identify what your gifts and talents are, look back at who you were in grade school. What accomplishments did you have? What types of clubs or activities were you involved in? You may notice some similarities between those and what you are doing for your business today. Making this connection will grow your confidence and help you see how your talents really are inherent.

 

Truth #2: Your gifts are there to serve others. 

It’s my favorite thing to see someone step into their purpose and serve in the exact way that was intended. One of the main reasons (if not the main reason) we have our inherent gifts and talents is to serve those around us. 

If you look back, you may notice some of your happiest moments have been when you were strengthening your talents by using them to serve others. I always get so excited when I’m using my talents to talk to women and teach them who they are and how they can have a long lasting business. 

So, think back to the times you were sharing your gifts. Was it as a mom with your kids? Was it with your spouse? Was it as an entrepreneur? Odds are it’s been in every one of these roles. Recognizing those moments will help you step more fully into these roles and feel confident in who you are and how you serve.

 

Truth #3: You are designed for a specific battlefront. (There is no need to compare.)

I could easily look at my sisters and compare myself to them. I could think what they are doing, serving as mayor and teaching youth in arts education, are more important or valuable than what I’m doing. However, I know we are all put in different battlefronts. It wouldn’t make sense to compare myself to them (or anyone else) because we are placed in different areas, serving different people.

One of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is recognize your sphere of influence and take action. Each sphere of influence is equally important, but yours is most important for you. 

Allow yourself to be free of the thoughts and feelings that aren’t serving you. If this means, unfollowing someone because they make you feel lesser than, do it. No more second guessing yourself or wondering why you aren’t good enough–do what’s needed to focus on your gifts and talents and how you were MADE to use them in serving YOUR people. 

When you catch yourself comparing, use this phrase to help you refocus: I am exactly where I need to be, and she’s exactly where she needs to be. 

 

Truth #4: You are needed just as you are, but don’t plan to stay that way. 

Remember, you don’t need to know everything in order to start. The whole point is for us to grow into a better version of ourselves. Maybe you don’t know about bookkeeping (or insert whatever is holding you back from moving forward in your business), but one day you will. 

Start exactly where you are, as you are, and expect to grow and become someone even better and capable for your business. 

 

Truth #5: You have a divine responsibility to stand up, speak out, and serve. 

I’m ending this exactly where we started. This last one is not something just nice to do, but something you have a duty to do. God has given you a divine nature in order for you to serve and lift those around you.

In order to know more about your divine role and your gifts and talents, build a relationship with God. Ask Him how you can best show up right now. If you take the time to talk with Him and ask His advice, He will answer you. And having confirmation from God will give you a new found confidence in growing your business and in yourself and the roles you have. 

 

 

I know this post is different from the typical “business talk”, but I had to share it with you because these 5 things you need to know as a business woman are at my very core. Knowing who I am, and knowing who you are, as daughters of God, is what motivates me in every decision I make.
