Girl, Wash Your Face Review and Quotes

June Book Club

Girl, Wash Your Face Review and Quotes:  Yep, it is time to get back on the wagon for Michelle’s Book Club.  Let me introduce you to June’s book: Girl, Wash Your Face  by Rachel Hollis. Just like you can’t say that title without a little extra attitude, you won’t be able to read this book with out receiving a little extra pep in your step and a determination to get stuff done.

(Yep, that is an affiliate link.)

Rachel Hollis is the founder of TheChicSite.com and CEO of her own media company.  She is also a mom to four (one of which was adopted) and will quickly become your BFF.  She is a straight talker and a master empathizer.

In her latest book (she’s written 7!), she takes on 20 lies that she has believed throughout her life.  Let me tell you, you will relate to all of them.  She is super honest in how she has debunked her lies and will help you get to the bottom of those things in your life that are holding you back.

The book’s theme is:

Stop believing the lies about who you are so you can become who you were meant to be.

I love that so much.  When it comes down to what is holding us back from creating the life or business that we want, it usually comes down to us.  We limit ourselves and believe the lies that we can’t, we shouldn’t and we won’t and then we don’t.

Here are some of my favorite quotes from Girl, Wash Your Face

“When you really want something, you will find a way.  When you don’t really want something, you will find an excuse.”

“Comparison is the death of joy and the only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday.”

“I know they say that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, but I assume that’s because they’ve never had a Nacho Bell Grande.”

Girl, Wash Your Face Review and Quotes by Rachel Hollis Someone else's opinion of you is none of your business Book of the Month with www.IamMichelleGifford.com

“Someone else’s opinion of yourself is none of your business.”

“Embracing the chaos might be the journey we take to finding peace.”

“You become who you surround yourself with.  You become what you consume.  If you find yourself in a slump or feel as though you are living in a negative space, take a good hard look at who and what you see every day.”

Girl, Wash Your Face Review and Quotes by Rachel Hollis I can't condone a world where women are emotionally abusing themselves because they think they're not good enough Book of the Month with www.IamMichelleGifford.com

“I can’t condone a world where women are emotionally abusing themselves because they think they’re not good enough.”

“Stop waiting on someone else to fix your life.”

“Being a perfect mom is a myth– but being a pretty great mom, most of the time, is actually possible.”

“I don’t believe in one best way to parent.  In fact, I think it could be pretty damaging to our children if we tried to impose the ideals of someone else onto how our family should function.”

“You cannot properly take care of your children or teach them how to be whole and happy people if you are miserable and harsh with yourself.”

Girl, Wash Your Face Review and Quotes by Rachel Hollis Imagine living your motherhood out form now until forever without guilt Book of the Month with www.IamMichelleGifford.com

“Imagine living your motherhood out from now until forever, without guilt.  Imagine caring for your children and yourself simultaneously without constantly questioning every decision you make.  It’s possible.  It’s also a choice.”

“I am not saying that you shouldn’t strive to improve yourself as a parent; and when it comes to kids, your job is to help them become their best selves.  But sister, please, please, please stop allowing your fear of getting it wrong to color every beautiful thing you’re doing right.”

“God has perfect timing.”

“That is what it boils down to: faith.  The belief that your life will unfold as it was meant to, even when it unfolds into something painful and difficult to navigate.”

“Big dreams shouldn’t have expiration dates.”

“Sister you are stronger than this.  You’ve got babies to raise and bills to pay and a life to live–and you can’t do that if you’re hiding under the covers.”

Girl, Wash Your Face Review and Quotes by Rachel Hollis There is beauty in the chaos, as well as freedom in not trying to fight against the tide Book of the Month with www.IamMichelleGifford.com

“There is beauty in the chaos, as well as freedom in not trying to fight against the tide.”

“You have the ability to change your life.  You’ve always had the power, Dorothy.  You just have to stop waiting for someone else to do it for you.  There is no easy way out of this; there is no life hack.  Just you and your God-given strength and how much you desire change.”
