Maskcara Artist Podcast Episode 4

Looking around at all of the other Maskcara artists, can quickly become overwhelming. You see all of their followers and success and want to know how to get those thousands and thousands of fans. That, my friend, is a huge mistake. You are different. You are amazing! And (secret) you do not need 100,000 or 50,000 followers or even 10,000 followers to be successful at this business.

Seth Godin says,
“To be a successful creator you don’t need millions. You don’t need millions of dollars or millions of customers, millions of clients or millions of fans. To make a living as a craftsperson, photographer, musician, designer, author, animator, app maker, entrepreneur, or inventor you need only thousands of true fans.”

The best journey to those thousand true fans is to find the one true fan and then build from there.  In episode 4 of the Maskcara Artist Podcast, I walk you through three steps to finding that one true fan.

3 Steps to Finding Your True Fan

1. Figure out who your ONE true fan looks like.

With the help of the worksheets, I want you to be able to picture your true fan.  I want you to know what they look like and what they do and love.  What are the demographics and psychographics of your true fan?  What does she look like?  What does she do?

2. Know what you offer them.

You must know what you have to offer.  Know what makes you amazing (check out the Maskcara Artist Podcast episode 2 here).  What are the things that you are going to share that will help that fan live a happier life?

3. Find your people then serve, serve, serve.

If you want to grow, you have to serve.  Think of all of the people that you are following online and think of why you are following them.  Most likely they make your life better in some way (and if they don’t make your life better, why are you following them?).  When we make the switch to a motivation of serving not selling, it will take away all of the icky feelings that come from selling.
