5 Reasons Why You Need a Website
Reason #1: You own your website.
You can advertise your business as much as you want on Instagram, but when it comes down to it, you don’t own your Instagram followers. You never know, Instagram could decide one day to take your account down or give you limits to what you can post. And it would be fair because that’s their website, their platform. Just like they control how much of your content is shown to your audience. It’s probably a very limiting number, but it’s their algorithm and we have to be OK with that.
Having a place you can call your own where you call the shots sounds really nice, doesn’t it? You get to set up your website just how you like it and design it down to every detail. You deserve to have that kind of space where your audience has zero distractions from seeing what you can offer them.
Reason #2: You control where your audience goes.
With your own website, you decide the journey you take your audience on. You decide the flow of your content and how it will guide your audience to the answers they are looking for. In the end, hopefully it brings them to buying one of your products that will solve their problem. (Which brings me to my third reason.)
Reason #3: It makes it easier for people to pay you.
Make sure your website is set up to accept payment. This is a big deal because that means your website can make you money in your sleep. Someone could come across your website in the middle of the night and you could wake up to a product sale or a client booking. Wouldn’t that be so cool?
Reason #4: Suddenly, you become legit.
You become legit to two parties: yourself and your audience.
There’s something about getting a website that makes you feel more legit. Suddenly, the side gig you did on Instagram isn’t just a hobby anymore. It’s your business that you are investing in. That is a big deal that you should be proud of!
Also, you want to look legit to potential customers if you’re serious about making your business built to last. Having a website helps a ton with looking professional and experienced.
Check out these stats:
- 30 percent of consumers won’t consider a business without a website.
- 46 percent of consumers said a website is the biggest determinant of whether or not they trust a company.
Having a nice looking website alone helps your business. As I mentioned earlier, it’s OK if you’re not ready to get a website. Take a bit to get used to your business if you’re just starting out. You’ll know when it’s right to take the next step.
Reason #5: Search engines.
There are three large search engines: Pinterest, Google, and YouTube. Having a website with a blog set up on there makes it so your website can show up on two of the three search engines. That is a big deal! If you set up your SEO correctly, your brand is spreading with the search engine doing all the work for you.
Unfortunately, Instagram is not a search engine. That means the content posted on there is very short-term. That’s another big reason why not having a website is losing you money. A website makes your content long-lasting which is what you want if you want a sustainable business.
