Are you wanting to grow on Instagram, but don’t have a ton of time to figure out how? You’re in the right place. I’ve got 5 changes to make on your Instagram that will only take 5 minutes. And once you make these 5 changes, you will see your Instagram audience grow. It’s going to be the coolest thing! Let’s jump right in.
I recently did a survey for my Instagram followers asking them how many hours per day they spend on Instagram. 92 percent of my followers said they spend 1-4 hours per day. And then I asked them how happy they were with the outcome of the effort they were putting into growing on Instagram. 85 percent said they were unhappy with their outcomes. This is a huge problem!
If you are devoting time and energy to growing on Instagram, then you should be able to say that you love the outcomes you are seeing. So if you are at all in this situation where you feel like you are putting in a ton of work to grow on Instagram, but not really seeing the results you want–I’ve got the secrets for you. We’ll start with the 5 changes you can make right now, but you’re going to want to check out THIS POST that goes into my detailed strategy on how I just grew 100K Instagram followers in 10 months.
5 Changes to Make on Your Instagram
These 5 changes to make on your Instagram will help you set up a strategy for posting on Instagram. If you are spending hours on it every day trying to grow your business then showing up with a strategy is not only more beneficial but necessary. You may have been able to grow before with no plan, but if you’ve hit that plateau this is your sign that you need a growth strategy in place to keep the momentum going.
Instagram Change #1: Create a reel in 5 minutes and then post it.
Is it possible to create a reel in 5 minutes or less? Yes, and you can do it over and over again. All you have to do is open your photos app, find a video you can use as B-roll–no more than 7 seconds–and then put some trending audio and some valuable text over it and you’ve got a great reel.
If you don’t have any B-roll footage on hand (but you probably do) this is super easy to film and use right away. Using footage of me doing everyday things either on my own or with others is the #1 video footage I use for the majority of my reels.
Instagram Change #2: Connect with your audience.
You already have followers who said yes to you and are following along while you share your content. The best followers you have are the ones who watch your stories and comment on your posts. We need to take care of those people.
Too often we get caught up in trying to attract new followers that we forget to nurture the ones we already have. (Both are important.) But when you nurture your current followers they will share your content with their friends and you will get new followers that way. Plus, you get the added bonus of these new followers already loving and trusting you because you were recommended by someone they love and trust.
The best way to nurture your devoted followers is to respond to their comments. And maybe even go to their content and interact with them there. This will greatly increase your connection with them!
Instagram Change #3: Slide into their DMs.
Find some influencers who you want to collaborate with who have an audience like yours and aren’t competing and start a relationship with them. This is one of the easiest ways to get in front of new audiences who are already qualified for you.
These collaborations could look like doing reels together, shoutouts in stories, working on bigger projects together, and speaking and/or doing lives together. These are some of the biggest business-building things that I have done that have really expanded my social network and grown my audience.
Instagram Change #4: Take 5 minutes to make an Instagram plan for the week.
You might not like this one, but I’m still sharing it! Too often we are creating content on the fly and getting stuck scrolling through our competitors’ content. Instead, we need to sit down at the start of each week and think about the goals we have for the following week and how this week’s content can help us get there.
Also, reflect on the big or common questions your audience is asking you and brainstorm some content that will help answer those questions or solve their problems. Noticing the questions your audience is asking you is the biggest clue that will help you understand where your audience is at and how you can serve them better.
Instagram Change #5: Look at your analytics.
Look at your analytics, but don’t stop there. Find your most popular post–make sure it’s one you posted at least one month ago–and then repost it. However, if it’s a family life update type of post, don’t repost that because it won’t make sense. If it is a post that provides high value for your audience in the niche you serve, post it again.
If your most popular post was a reel, repost the reel and try it this time with a new hook and new audio. You can repurpose the video and perhaps get an even bigger reach the second time around.
Most of us think that our followers are watching our content really closely and judging us on every little thing we do, but I promise you they are not. Yes, someone might notice that you reposted content, but they will still gain value from it. They’ll probably be grateful to be reminded of it.
