6 Affiliate Marketing Tips for Beginners
Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways you can make money for your business. When you’re able to offer discount codes people use your link just so they can get the discount. Even if there isn’t a discount, there are so many people who will see your content and want the product and your link is what will take them to it. When you post the link in your stories and talk about how amazing the product is, you are making it so easy for your followers to buy the product. When you make it easy for them, more people will buy.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #1: Go above the mark.
A lot of times we send out our media kit and then pray someone says yes. What Jason recommends is producing a little bit more content than what a company asks you for. For example, if a company wants to work with you and ask you to create 3-5 story slides for them, create at least 7-8 to show you’re willing to do a little bit extra work.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #2: Explain the product and how you use it in your stories.
He also recommends taking time to talk about the product and explain it. Including this in the story slides you create for the company will prove to them how on point you are with what you have to offer them. Just give it your best shot and then if the company uses the slides you created for them, reach out to them a few weeks later and ask how the campaign went. Depending on the success of it, you can negotiate the rate they are paying you (for future deals) so you can make sure you’re getting paid the amount your work is worth.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #3: Find an affiliate subscription program.
Try to find an affiliate program with a subscription. That way you are getting a revolving income every month without you having to do anything about it. Once you get people signed up with your link once, that money will continue to roll in every single month as long as they continue their subscription.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #4: Repetition, repetition, repetition.
Don’t be afraid to talk about products more than once. You are going to have followers who do not see your content or your stories every day. Some may only see your content on the weekend, so you want to sprinkle in content about your affiliate links whenever you can. The content should feel natural for you to talk about and sell if you’re recommending products that you use all of the time.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #5: Be an active consumer.
Draw from other people’s content that pulled you in and learn from it. If you watched a TikTok or reel all the way through, ask yourself what made you stay and watch the entire thing. Whatever your answers are, implement those into your own content.
When you become a creator you have to be an active consumer. There is so much you can learn from other creators about what content does and does not work. And that answer is always changing, so it’s important to continue learning and growing as you consume content and then turn around and create your own.
Affiliate Marketing Tip #6: Show up and sell.
Don’t feel nervous about posting links. You might feel apprehensive because you don’t want to share too many or have people think, “Geez, this girl shares too many links.” But they probably won’t, they have too much to think about, and thinking about how many links you share is probably not one of them. And if it is, then that’s not someone you want in your audience anyway.
Remember, you are a business and businesses make money. You don’t need to feel weird about selling products in your stories. People know you do it and they want you to–they want your recommendations. So be yourself, make the connections, and sell your favorite products. It’s a win-win for everyone!
