How Taking Care of Your Body Helps Your Business Grow
Have you ever wondered if how you take care of your body correlates with the success of your business? Me too. Some of you may know of my “3 before 9” challenge where you check in with God, exercise, and get ready all before 9 a.m. This is something I’ve done for years now and it has really helped me be a better person and business owner. I decided to take a deeper dive into this area of our lives and chat with my friend Tracy Pleschort, owner of Self-MadeU, who shares how taking care of your body helps your business grow.
If you haven’t heard of Tracy or her business, she is all about helping people achieve their goals through discovering themselves and altering thought patterns. She mostly helps women who are interested in weight loss but is not limited to just that area. Her curriculum covers 4 areas of yourself: emotional, mental, physical, and metabolic. Tracy believes mastering each of these areas will not only improve your physical health but can help improve every other area of your life as well.
Tracy used to be in my Money Makers Coaching Group and now she has gone on and turned her business into her dream career. She is so passionate about what she does, so I’m beyond happy I was able to look inside her brain a little bit and get her thoughts on how taking care of your body helps your business grow. Let’s get started!
How Taking Care of Your Body Helps Your Business Grow
If you listen to this podcast episode, you’ll hear in Tracy’s voice how passionate she is about her business and what she teaches. And she really knows what she’s talking about too. There’s so much truth to her curriculum, so I hope you can listen to the episode if you have some time!
This topic might seem like common sense, right? If your body is feeling good then obviously you’ll run your business more efficiently. But Tracy shares some tips that are really specific to how your body and brain function that you may not have heard before. I took so many notes when I talked to her, so I know these tips will be helpful for you too!
Tip #1: How to Take Better Care of Your Glucose
Tracy explains how leveling out your glucose levels helps decrease cravings and gives you the energy you want and need in order to accomplish your daily to-do list. And most of us as biz mamas need all the energy we can get, right? Here’s a quick list of how Tracy suggests we can get started with taking better care of our glucose:
- Eat a low-carb diet. (Getting rid of your sugar and flour! This might seem hard or too much to think about…but this really is the most important place to start.)
- Eat a moderate level of protein.
- Identify good sources of fat and make that a huge part of your diet.
- Drink more water than you think you should.
- Get enough sleep.
Obviously, this is a list of suggestions and not “musts”, so take what you will! These are only here to help you if you need them, so there’s no need to stress over another thing you think you should be doing. We don’t need any more of that! You know what’s best for you right now, and everyone’s journey will look different.
Tip #2: How to Stay at the Forefront of your Business and Not Feel Overwhelmed
I know a lot of you probably feel overwhelmed with all the things you need to do every day, not to mention finding the time to do what you WANT to do every day. Tracy has found a really nice system that works for her when it comes to staying at the forefront of her business and not feeling overwhelmed. Her main advice is to find some experts in your industry and follow them. Listen to the podcasts, watch the videos, whatever you need to do, in order to keep learning and growing, so you can better serve your audience.
Finding the time to do this may look like scheduling out one day a week–or at least part of one day–to study these experts and their curriculum. Setting apart time for this is important because not only does it keep you at the forefront of your business, but it gives you the confidence to grow your business and show up for your audience the way you want to.
Tip #3: How to Focus on the Thoughts that Serve You and Help You Achieve Your Goals
It always starts with your thoughts. Your thoughts lead to your behaviors, behaviors lead to action, and action to results. This isn’t a new concept, however, having the power to CHANGE your thoughts might be.
Think about a thought that isn’t serving you. It might be, “It’s too hard to grow my business on Instagram.” Did you know your brain believes this to be a fact? More importantly, did you know you can change that thought to one that will serve you? All you have to do is tease that thought apart and then change it into a new thought that serves you.
This means you can start asking yourself things like, “What would it look like if it was easy? How could I make Instagram easier for me today to grow my business?” The key is to switch the thought from having a negative feeling to a neutral feeling. Did you notice that those questions don’t seem as heavy or daunting as the original thought?
Think about what thoughts are holding you back and ask yourself questions that will alter them. Turn them into thoughts that will serve you. This skill is a game-changer and it will truly help you overcome any obstacle you face as you achieve your goals.
One more way to overcome your obstacles is to create benchmarks from where you are now and where you want to be. These benchmarks are meant to help you see how far you’ve come. When you hit a benchmark, rather than focusing on how far you still have to go, you can use the momentum from how far you’ve come to propel you forward.
