How to Add a Voiceover to Your Reel

Instagram recently gave us some more tools to use with reels and voiceovers are one of them! This is a really cool feature that will level up your reels. It also broadens the variety of reels you can do. Now, you can record your video without worrying about the audio at the same time. You can record your video and add the voiceover later! Here’s a quick tutorial on how to add a voiceover to your reel.

How to Add a Voiceover to Your Reel

Step 1: Pull up a reel you want to add a voiceover to. Click on the bubble at the top with the music note in it.

Step #2: You should see a few options underneath your reel. The two bars show you the original audio and camera audio. Your original audio is the audio you chose to play during your reel–it could be audio you created or it could be one you’re using from someone else (a.k.a trending audio). Camera audio is what was recorded on your camera when filming the video. Adjust the volume to your liking by sliding the bars up and down. 

Step #3: Click on “voiceover” underneath those two bars (original audio and camera audio). 

Step #4: Hit the red button and record your voiceover for the reel.

Step #5: If you’re happy with the voiceover, click “done.” If you want to give it another try, hit the back arrow button with the x on it, hit discard, and then record your voiceover again.

Step #6: Once you’re happy with your voiceover and you hit the done button, you should see a voiceover bar added to the other two underneath your reel. Again, you can adjust the volume to each one depending on what you want it to sound like. 

 

 

Biz Pro Tip: Since reels have a better chance of being seen if it has trending audio, try this trick out! Add trending audio to your reel and put the volume all the way to zero. Then, add in your voiceover and turn the volume all the way up. That way your audience won’t actually hear the trending audio, but your reel will still have the audio attached to it.
