How to set up a Convertkit account
You know that “subscribe” button you put on your blog? Are people actually using it? And once you have subscribers, do you know what to do with them? If you’re not sure about any of this, then let’s sit down and chat for a few minutes about email marketing. Email marketing is a great way to use your blog or website to make money, and having the right email marketing platform will help you increase subscribers and then increase your profits.
What is email marketing?
Email marketing is when you use email to reach out to the people who have subscribed to your blog or website. Email marketing typically promotes the goods and services you provide, while building relationships with the people who follow you—your potential customers. Your goal should be to turn your subscribers into loyal customers, and you can do that through strategic email marketing. Many bloggers send newsletters to their subscribers, which is a good first step. But you can get more personal—and creative—with your email marketing campaign. Think about sending your subscribers exclusive, useful content, like coupons, free printables, early access to courses, free shipping, whatever is applicable to your business.
Why do I need email marketing for my business?
Email marketing is an easy and cheap way to communicate with your subscribers. A good email marketing campaign can turn a subscriber into a loyal customer, which means more profit for your business.
If you have a blog or website, and you aren’t making money with it, you should very strongly consider email marketing. And if you are already using email marketing but you’re not making any money or don’t have as many subscribers as you’d like, you should consider switching email marketing platforms (or signing up for one in the first place!). A good platform will help you learn more about your followers, target specific groups with specific offers, and even increase the number of followers you have. With an email marketing platform, you can turn your subscribers into loyal customers.
So now that you understand why you need to use email marketing, you’re probably wondering how to actually do it! You can offer your readers a free product (think pdf, printable, download) in exchange for their email address. This, my friend, is what they call an opt in button. This is THE best way to grow your email list.
ConvertKit will help you keep track of your subscribers, create and send automated emails, and tailor your emails to your subscribers. A subscriber who has purchased from you in the past will probably need a different email than a brand-new subscriber needs. ConvertKit has built-in automations that make it easy to send relevant emails to the right groups of people.
Let me give you a quick disclaimer, I don’t use Convertkit. I use Ontraport for my email marketing but a lot of people can’t afford Ontraport, so I recommend Convertkit to you as a more affordable option.
ConvertKit lets you set up a free 14-day trial—no contract, no obligations. So if you’re not sure whether you want to use this platform, go ahead and sign up for the free trial. What do you have to lose?
