I hope you’ll be there if you feel the call to do so!
OK, let’s get back on topic. Here are the tips & tricks for your YouTube strategy!
Why Should You Spend Time Building a YouTube Channel?
One of my main goals in my 60-day sprint is to grow my brand on YouTube. Now, I have used YouTube in the past. I do have several videos on my channel, but I have never been consistent with my YouTube strategy. For so long I’ve felt like it wasn’t the right time for me to focus on it, let alone have the capacity to do so. Instead, I gave priority to building a strong team and a high-quality podcast. Now that I have both of those in place, I feel like I can focus on growing my YouTube channel like I want to. And, why not kick things off with a 60-day sprint?
Science proves that it is actually better to have concentrated goals set to accomplish within a shorter period of time. This scenario helps you have the urgency and focus necessary to meet those goals.
Last year I gained 1500 subscribers and had 173 thousand views on my YouTube videos. And that was without me doing hardly anything at all. Imagine what growth I will have when I actually put in some consistent effort. Here are some more facts to help show why YouTube is such an amazing platform you should be using:
- It has 2 billion users
- 74 percent are adult users in the US, making it the most popular platform
- It’s the second largest search engine (only second to Google)
- It has 1 billion hours watched per day
- It has 5 billion videos watched per day
- 500 videos are uploaded to YouTube per minute
Aren’t these statistics mind-blowing? Imagine the goodness you can create and experience through using YouTube. If you are ready to get serious about your YouTube strategy, now is the time. Here is a peek behind the curtain of what I’ll be doing over the next 60 days with my YouTube strategy.
Tips & Tricks for Your YouTube Strategy
Tip #1: Use Momentum from Already Successful Content
If you have any uploaded videos on YouTube already, find the videos that have the most views. This tells you what your viewers are most interested in watching. Create content related to that same topic. For example, I know my most viewed videos are ones about making reels on Instagram. The next video I am adding to my channel is an updated how-to video on making reels.
So, don’t think too hard about what your videos should be about. Just look at what your audience and stats are already telling you. If you don’t have any YouTube videos yet, look at your most active social media account and see which videos/posts have the most interaction. These can help guide you on where to start as well.
Tip #2: Set up a Weekly Schedule
Just like with any goal, setting up a weekly schedule will help you achieve your goals in the time you plan to do so. I know at the end of my 60-day sprint, I want to see increased ad revenue through my YouTube channel, more subscribers, and from those subscribers, I want to see more people join my Money Makers Coaching Group.
With these end results in mind, I plan to post 2-3 videos per week. For me, it helps to dedicate a theme for each day. This is what my weeks will look like over the next 60 days:
- Tuesdays: Instagram day
- Wednesdays: Business day
- Thursdays: Working Mama day
Think about what you want your weekly schedule to look like in order to achieve your goals. Do what works best for you. I know I’m sharing what I will be doing with my YouTube strategy, but there is definitely more than one way to do this. I’m just sharing what I’ll be doing to help give you some ideas.
Tip #3: Say No to Other Things Temporarily
Something we talk about often in my Money Makers group is that sometimes you have to go all-in on something to get momentum, and sometimes that means saying no to other things. Just know that when you’re going all-in on something, you might have to pause in another area of your work and that’s OK.
During my 60-day sprint, I’m saying no to immediate responses to potential clients and coaching calls. Normally, I immediately set up a time to talk with people who are interested in working with my agency, but now they will be added to my waitlist and I will answer them when I have time.
Think about what area of your business you could hit pause on while you focus on this goal to grow your business in another way. It will be challenging, but it will most definitely be worth it.
Tip #4: Be OK with the First Ones Being Awkward
Be OK with the fact that your first few videos will probably be a little awkward and maybe even bad. And that’s OK! The only way to have amazing videos is to start with where you’re at and you’ll improve over time. That’s exactly how it went with my podcast. Now, I can make a podcast episode pretty quickly and confidently because I’ve had tons of practice. I haven’t had a ton of practice with YouTube videos, so I know I will feel and probably act a little weird on the first ones and I’ve accepted that. I’m willing to do it if it means more success and finding more people I can serve.
My personal trainer at the gym told me when talking about working out that in 2 weeks you’ll feel it, in 4 weeks you’ll see it, and in 8 weeks people start talking about it. This totally applies to business and content creation too. I know you can do this and we can even do this together. What do you say? Are you ready to go all-in with me?
