Summer has officially hit. The first couple weeks are the hardest as we try to get used to being in the same space all the time. Someone is always talking, like always. And usually it is all nonsense or fighting. I needed to find some magic and I did.
Enter the magical world of podcasts for kids.
You know that kids love stories, everyone does. These podcasts for kids tell stories, teach cool things and above all allow me a little more controlled noise. When I mentioned this on Instagram, a bunch of you responded. I got some more podcast recommendations and I also had some of you try it and find the magic for yourselves. I’m sharing with you my recommendations and some of the recommendations of my Instagram friends.
Circle Round Podcast has celebrity guests retell folktales from around the world and are adapted for our day. These stories always teach a lesson and the podcast talks about that lesson and teaches along the way. We love it.
But Why is a show led by you, kids! You ask the questions and we find the answers. It’s a big interesting world out there.On But Why, we tackle topics large and small, about nature, words, even the end of the world. My kids loved listening to the one about “Why ants bite”.
Story Pirates is a group of world-class actors, comedians, improvisers and musicians who adapt stories written by kids into sketch comedy and musical theater. Thank you Katie Sabin from Just Add Sunshine for the recommendation.

Speaking of bedtime, there’s no magic formula for getting kids to calm down in the evening, but the series of podcasts from Peace Out comes close. These calming stories teach mindfulness and meditation, and are a perfect introduction to cultivating this life-long skill.

8. The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian
This serialized podcast tells the story of an 8-year-old boy living on an interplanetary space station who explores the galaxy and solves mysteries with his friends.
Each week, Mr. Eric takes a “what if?” question from a friend and spins it into a story just for you!
