9 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Email Marketing

Email marketing is SUCH a game-changer when it comes to growing your community, and even your sales. I mean, I wouldn’t encourage you to have an email list if it wasn’t going to bring you more money. So, if you feel like you have been told to get an email list but don’t see how it could actually improve your sales, this post is for you! Here are 9 reasons why you should be using email marketing for your business.

I have talked about email marketing for a while now, so if you have yet to get an email list, take this as a little kick in the pants to get you moving! I just want to see you build a strong and thriving business and having an email list is one of the ways to make that happen.

You don’t have to be afraid of an email list or even feel stressed about having one to manage. There are ways to set up it at the beginning, so you won’t have to hardly think about it later on and it will still be making you money. I’ll explain more about that later in the post. And with that, let’s get started!

9 Reasons Why You Should be Using Email Marketing

Email Marketing | Reason #1: Your email list is something you own.

I will talk about the importance of this one for the rest of my life! Unlike your Instagram followers or YouTube subscribers, you own your email list. That means you get to decide what to send, how often to send it, etc. without anyone else’s approval. This is a big deal because, with social media platforms, you never know when the app could not be functioning properly or if they delete some of the content you’ve made because it goes against their policies.

If you’re serious about your business, then you should be serious about email marketing. Email marketing has so many perks to it like leading your customers on a journey to buy your products and building a more tight-knit community. You want to have a good handle on your community and the content they are seeing and email marketing is the perfect way to do that!

Email Marketing | Reason #2: Way less competition with this format.

When someone gets your email, even if they don’t buy the product you are advertising, they are still thinking about you and your business. So even if they don’t buy it the first few times, odds are after seeing your emails and products they will eventually buy.

When it comes to social media platforms, you have no idea who is seeing your content. Yes, you can gauge it a little bit with the statistics, but it’s really left up to the algorithm. (And I know most of us have a love-hate relationship with the algorithm.) So, with email marketing, your subscribers are seeing your name and products pop up in their email which will help them think of your business specifically when they are ready to buy your type of products.

Email Marketing | Reason #3: Building your community of buyers.

People aren’t getting on Instagram with you in mind. They may or may not see your content on social media, but when they open your email, they are doing it to intentionally see what you have to say. Their minds are focused on you and what you have to offer them. That’s pretty powerful.

With that in mind, it’s important to write emails that will motivate your readers to act. You don’t want to write emails just for the sake of writing them. You want to have a purpose behind them and make sure the content you are sending out is encouraging more sales for your business. Having a customer journey map is exactly how to make this happen, which leads us to reason #4.

Email Marketing | Reason #4: Customer Journey Map

Have you heard of a customer journey map before? If not, it’s basically where you lead your customers on a journey to buy your products. And you do this by talking about their problems and introducing your products as the solution. This is one of my absolute favorite things to talk about. It’s super important to get to know the people you are serving and how they talk about their problems. The more specific you can get about this, the better you will know how to serve them and help them see how your products are the solution for them.

I have a course that teaches you all about it, which you can check out HERE. I’ve also written several other blog posts on this subject, but I recommend you start HERE to help you learn about setting up your very own customer journey map.

So, if you’re wondering what content you would even send to your email list, setting up a customer journey map is a great place to start. There are a few other email marketing strategies you can do as well, which you can learn more about HERE.

Email Marketing | Reason #5: A tool to help lead people to your website and/or blog.

I often use my email marketing to let my community know when I’ve launched a new product, released a new podcast episode, blog post, YouTube video, etc. Having an email list is just another way to increase traffic for your website, blog, YouTube video, etc. And this means you are making more money because more traffic means more ad revenue or more people buying your products. It’s all a really exciting domino effect!

Email Marketing | Reason #6: Effective sales funnel strategy.

I know we’ve touched on email marketing being an effective sales funnel strategy. But what do I mean when I say “sales funnel strategy”? It’s basically turning a cold contact into a loyal customer through a series of emails.

If you’re only sending emails when you have a product on sale, no one is going to buy your products. You need to make sure you are nurturing your audience with freebies, stories that relate to them, etc. All of this can be a part of your sales funnel sequence. Click HERE to learn more about setting up your very own sales funnel strategy. (Just a heads up, it’s an older post that I’ve done, but the information is still so good!)

Email Marketing | Reason #7: Easy way to alert your most loyal customers with news happening with your business (& how it will affect them).

Whenever you have something new happening in your business, let your email list know! They follow for a reason and enjoy your content. Plus, letting them know of any updates is one example of how you can nurture your audience. You can let them know how your updates will better serve them which will help them know how much you care about them! This will naturally lead to more sales and encourage loyal customers.

Email Marketing | Reason #8: An automated process that can make you money while you sleep.

The option to automate your email marketing is one of my absolute favorite things about it–and why I’m a huge advocate for it. There is nothing better than knowing you’re making money while you sleep (or while you’re away spending quality time with your family) because of some systems you put in place.

You can write all of your email sequences ahead of time and automate them on your email marketing system. I personally use Davinci for my email marketing and I love it! It organizes all of my different email lists and it gets me so excited every time I open it up. Click HERE to learn more about Davinci! You can also check out this post where I talk about a few other email marketing systems so you can see the pros and cons of each.

Email Marketing | Reason #9: Another way to measure what type of content and products your audience is interested in.

Don’t be afraid to ask your subscribers their opinion on your content and products. This is a great way to gather information and help you know what your audience is interested in. If it’s something simple enough, I often use my Instagram stories to have my followers vote on different things to help me know which way to take my content strategy next.

You could also use your email list to ask your audience to vote on different things like new product designs, content ideas, etc. You’d be reaching more people this way too because the people who follow you on Instagram may not be the same people who get your emails. Plus, your audience loves when you ask them what they want because it shows that you really care about them and are trying to cater to their needs!
