The real reason why you’re not accomplishing your goals–it’s all in your head! It all comes down to whether or not you believe you can do it. Yes, there are other factors that affect your success, but there’s nothing more powerful than your own thoughts. This post covers a sneak peek of a coaching call I did with my Money Makers where I shared my step-by-step guide for accomplishing your business goals. And, of course, I want to share it with you too!
Have you heard of my 60-day sprint? At the beginning of March, I decided to intensely focus on one or two goals and see what my results would be at the end of 60 days. And all of my Money Makers are doing it with me. At the start of our sprint, I shared this step-by-step guide for accomplishing your business goals with them on a coaching call. Now that I’m sharing it with you too, you can have your very own 60-day sprint! It’s amazing what kinds of things you can accomplish when you give yourself a deadline and learn a few skills to help you stay fired up throughout the process. Alright, let’s get started!
Step-by-Step Guide for Accomplishing Your Business Goals
Step 1: Write down the goal you want to accomplish in the next 60 days. Be specific.
Example: I want “X” amount of followers. I want to make “X” amount of money.
Step 2: Write down WHY you want this to happen. Think about your big why and let that motivate you to meet your goal.
Step 3: For the next 30-60 seconds, write down all the negative thoughts you have about achieving this goal.
Step 4: Go through each negative thought you just wrote down and question them with: “Is that really true?”
Example: If your negative thought is, “Reels are too hard to make.” Ask, “Are reels really too hard to make? Or is it just something new I need to learn and get better at?”
This step will help change your thoughts to ones that serve you, and even help them become more realistic. E.g. “I don’t know how to do reels yet, but I’m excited to learn.”
Step 5: Using the true statements you just found, create some empowering statements/mantras that motivate you to act.
Step 6: Out of all the empowering statements you just wrote down, choose 1-2 that really fire you up.
Tune in to the podcast episode to hear real live comments from some of my Money Makers! They share their experience with completing these 6 steps. It may give you some ideas on how to alter your negative thoughts! And, tuning in will really help you if you hear it from other biz sisters who are in the thick of running a business just like you.
Bonus: FAQs for Beginner Business Owners
Question #1: Is it good to spend money on ads?
Yes. Ads are always a good idea. If you’re looking for a cheaper option, I recommend doing ads on Pinterest. Also, running ads on TikTok right now is really cheap considering what you get back from it.
Question #2: Is Instagram Shop a good thing or a bad thing?
Instagram Shop is a good thing–especially if you sell physical products. The only downside is that you will be changed from a creator to a business, so you will have limited options for music and other things when creating videos or reels.
You just have to weigh the pros and cons and see what you prefer. However, if you sell physical products, and that’s the main way you make money, then having those limiting content creation options should be worth it!
Question #3: I have 10-15 hours to put toward my business. What should I be doing?
I get this type of question a lot. It’s hard to know how you should be spending your time on your business when you’re just starting out. But, the first thing you should think about is what is making you the most money right now. Think about that process and how you can refine it.
Split your time between money-generating things and business-building things. Make to-do lists for every month, every week, and every day. This will give you a better idea of how to move your business forward. (And it will probably take less time than you think.)
Question #4: Which video editing tool do you use for Instagram?
I use InShot. I have the paid subscription version that I use, but there is a free version you can use as well.
Question #5: What should I work on outside of my Etsy shop?
If you want more sales, you should work on building your brand. The easiest way to build your brand is either on Instagram or TikTok. Choose one of these two social media platforms and focus on your marketing efforts there.
Building your brand will make the BIGGEST difference. Your brand is all about how people know who you are and how you serve them. So, start out on social media at first and then spread your brand awareness to a website and email list when you feel ready to do so.
Question #6: How do I market what people think they want vs. what I know they need help with?
This is a really good question. Sometimes it can be hard to make this connection between your products and the people you want to serve. The best way to navigate this is to find out how your audience is talking about their problem(s). (Click here for tips on how you can find out what your audience is saying about their problems.)
Maybe you know the deeper problem that your audience needs help with, but do you know how that problem is manifesting in real life? Your people may not be ready to have their deeper problem solved, so think about how you can help them get there by meeting them at their level.
Here’s a simple way to remember this tip: First, figure out how they are talking and thinking, and then you can talk about the feelings.
