1. How I Know It’s Time To Start A Business

In this episode I take you back and tell you a little bit about my past business experiences.  I have started a lot of businesses over the years and each one started with an idea and a desire to move and be creative.  Did I have all of the answers when I started?  Definitely not.   Every business was a learning process and a stepping stone to where I am today.  My answer to how you will know when it’s time to start a business may be different than you thought. I share my thoughts about God in this episode. I believe in God, if you don’t that’s fine. Just think of the higher power you believe in when you listen to this one.

“I knew I could make things. My mom had always been a good seamstress and had taught me to sew, so I knew I could do that. The moment that I sold my first hat was life changing. Here I was, an almost-mom in an apartment in Arizona, and someone was able to purchase what I had made from across the country. It was an aha moment. I knew this was what I was supposed to do. I knew, for the first time, it’s time to start a business. Before this, I had experienced some discontent and confusion.”

“I believe in the core content method and formula. It just happens to be my favorite method. I have a few posts and podcasts all about my core content method  that you can find HERE. The core content formula is where you choose one piece of core content that you are committed to making content for at least once a week. You take that core piece of content and you stretch it across different platforms. My kids’ core content source is YouTube. This is how they will teach, serve, and grow an audience. It is also where they will create their core content each week and share their videos.”

“Now, I could have probably found the information that was taught in that class online somewhere. But it was packaged and presented in a way that made sense to me and I didn’t have to search for what was next. Because I didn’t know what was supposed to be next. This is why I prefer to take courses. They are presented in a way that helps you to accomplish a specific task or to learn a specific skill by the end of the course.”

“My goal at first was very money oriented. It wasn’t a greed thing, but it was the only way I could mark success in my mind. We don’t create vision boards with hearts and rainbows on them, right? We use visual representations of the lifestyle we want to create; i.e., cars, big houses, financial stability, etc. But as I’ve gotten older and I have reached some of those milestones I had in my mind when I began my business journey, I’ve realized that we should be putting hearts and rainbows on our vision boards. The material things are just a byproduct of what I’ve worked hard to create.”
