The Secret to Instagram Trending Audio

There’s so much talk about trending audio. Do you know how to use it to help your Instagram reels go viral? It’s pretty simple to attach the trending audio to your video, but did you know there’s an actual strategy you can use to get you viral views almost every time? Here’s the secret to Instagram trending audio.

What is Trending Audio & Why Should You Use It?

Trending audios are audios that people use over and over again. People use the audio and put their own take on it with their reel. Usually, a trend starts and it spreads across hundreds of thousands to millions of users.

The reason trending audio is so powerful is that you have a bigger chance of having your content reach more people if you post it at the start of that trend. While original content is always a good idea (and even encouraged by Instagram) trending audio gets shared so easily because the content is relatable and creative. 

I don’t see trending audio going away any time soon because it makes content creation easier and actually content consumption easier as well. These types of videos act as a shortcut for content creators–whether you’re new or experienced. Reels with trending audio automatically make a video more entertaining and valuable to consumers.

 

How to Find Trending Audio for Your Instagram Reel

As I mentioned earlier, there is an actual strategy when it comes to finding trending audio and attaching it to your reel. You can check out the video at the top of this post to see my tutorial in real-time.

Step #1: Go to the explore feed on your Instagram.

Step #2: Click on a reel at the top of your feed and then click on the audio at the bottom of the reel.

Step #3: Make sure the reel you clicked on is showing an up arrow and the word “trending” listed under the audio name. 

Step #4: Notice how many times the audio has been used. It’ll list the number of uses next to the word “trending.”

Bonus Tip: Use trending audios that have less than 10K uses. 30K uses max. This will help you jump on the trend early and give your content more of a chance to be seen and maybe even go viral.

Step #5: Click on the first reel (the first one listed under the audio results) using this audio as the original audio. Notice how many views it has, along with the other reels listed next to it. If they have more than one million views, this indicates the trending audio has a lot of potential.

Step #6: Look at the trend itself. Is this a trend that can be easily used among different niches? Could you easily adapt it to yours? 

Step #7: Save the audio to use later when your accompanying reel is ready to be posted. 

 

 

Instagram Trending Audio Bonus Tips

One thing to look out for is if the trending audio is annoying. If you listen to it and don’t like it, don’t use it. If the audio is annoying then there’s a fair chance that people will scroll right past the content using this audio after the fifth time of hearing it. 

Trending audios with a beat drop are always really easy to use for your content. You can post your hook at the beginning and then when the beat drops you can add in your valuable content a few seconds later matching up with that beat. 

Is the trending audio nostalgic? Using nostalgic trending audio gives you an extra advantage because people will want to watch the video simply for the song and the memories it brings back to them. 

There are little things you can look out for such as these and there are plenty more. Look for those details as you discover more trending audio and save the ones you want to use! The more practice you get with this, the easier it will be to find those golden trending audios.
